Anies and Ariza Monitor the Readiness of Kramat Jati Health Center

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan and Jakarta Vice Governor, Ahmad Riza Patria (Ariza) visited Kramat Jati Health Center (Puskesmas), East Jakarta, Friday (5/29).

This morning, Vice Governor and I reviewed the readiness of puskesmas in Kramat Jati Sub-district

In this visit, Anies wants to check the readiness of health center in urban village level based on its health facilities in case the Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) period is ended on June 4, 2020. Jakarta Health Agency Head, Widyastuti also attended in this visit.

"This morning, Vice Governor and I reviewed the readiness of puskesmas in Kramat Jati Sub-district. We realize that it is the last week to determine whether PSBB will be continued or not. If not, it means now we are entering the transition period and residents will start their activities outside, even though it is still limited," Anies said after the visit as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.

According to him, consequence in ending the PSBB period is the resumption of various interactions, including direct interactions between people which is one of the causes of COVID-19 spread within the community. This is the reason Governor Anies visited puskesmas thus he can ensure its readiness in providing optimal health facilities and health workers.

"We all know that the virus is transmitted through interactions. If one is exposed, then health workers have the highest potential to be exposed. Thus, during the transition period, we need to check health facilities. Because when the public spaces are crowded of people, they must be prepared to treat those who are exposed with virus and those who are sick," he explained.

Based on his monitoring in Puskesmas Kramat Jati, he is positive that Jakarta has an adequate health facility, even from Puskesmas level.

"In Puskesmas Kramat Jati, we saw that both medical staff and its facilites are ready, even it prepared more than 2,000 personnel protective equipment (PPE)s. Alhamdulilah, from here, we can say that health facilities in Jakarta are ready and Insya Allah, if later it turns out that the current week is the end of PSBB and the beginning of transition period, then we are ready with the health defense," he stated.

Meanwhile, Puskesmas Kramat Jati Head, Inda Mutiara explained, her side has prepared all the needs, from the health logistics to human resources during the pandemic period since January, and prepared various steps to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

"When receiving circular letter from Dinkes, Puskesmas Kramat Jati has been preparing it since January. Thanks to the supports from all parties that we can carry out the tasks, by minimizing the transition and educating residents to wash hands and wear mask. In screening patients who have cough and fever, we do it from the front door of puskesmas. We also provide PPE because without it, it's like a war but we don't carry weapon. Health worker's job is to cure the patients but without it, they can be exposed and unable to do their job," she mentioned.
